Mexican Drug Lord Nacho Coronel Sinaloa Cartel Killed in Mexico

Mexico’s defense department is confirming that Ignacio ” Nacho ” Coronel Villareal, a capo in the Sinaloa drug cartel, was killed during a military raid in a suburb of Guadalajara, Mexico.

Coronel refused to be arrested and died in a gunfight with a unit of the Mexican army. One soldier was shot to death by ” Nacho ” before he, himself was killed.

Coronel was on the FBI’s most wanted list for cocaine and methamphetamine, charged with conspiracy to possess a controlled substance with intent to distribute and conspiracy to import a controlled substance.

There was a $5 Million USD reward by the US State Department and the FBI for information leading to Nacho Coronel’s capture.

More than 23,000 people have been murdered in Mexico since President Felipe Calderon declared war on Mexican drug cartels in December 2006.

Ciudad Juarez has become the world’s most dangerous city. A killing ground of unimaginable proportion, with over 5200 murders so far in 2010.

90% of the cocaine now enters the US from Mexico. 90% of weapons enter Mexico from the USA.

The drug trade betwen Mexico and the United States is an estimated $60 Billion USD business.
