Hebrew National Lawsuit Oy Vey

Hebrew National lawsuit, oy vey, was reported by American Jewish World. The case is Wallace et al v. ConAgra Foods Inc, U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota, No. 12-01354

The lawsuit alleges that [A] meat processing services provided to ConAgra by AER, fell short of the standards necessary to label Hebrew National products as kosher.

[B] ConAgra misled consumers and was able to charge premium prices. Oy vey.

Plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages and an injunction against further mislabeling. The lawsuit seeks class-action status for US purchasers of Hebrew National products over the last 4 years, and alleges negligence and violation of state consumer fraud laws.

ConAgra denies any wrong-doing and stands behind the quality of its Hebrew National hot dogs and their kosher status.

ConAgra marks Hebrew National packages with a Triangle K symbol and represents that the contents are kosher as defined by the most stringent Jews who follow Orthodox Jewish law.

But something not kosher is going on here. Too much of what goes on in the world isn’t kosher. Class action lawsuit = millions for attorneys and a $1.00 off coupon for plaintiffs. Oy!

If we really knew what was in the meats and snacks that we purchase at the supermarket and order at fast-food restaurants, we probably would not want to buy it, let alone eat it.

In other news: Costco sales of Kosher Hot Dogs go limp. Oy, indeed. And the oy’s have it.

#15 Lehigh University beat #2 Duke in one of the greatest upsets in NCAA March Madness history especially since the game was played in Greensboro, North Carolina.

CJ McCollum, the Patriot League player of the year, was unstoppable driving the lane at will. McCollum scored 30 points and the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh University stunned the Duke Blue Devils.

2012 Westminster Dog Best in Show the Pekingese

The Westminster Kennel Club 2012 dog show results are in. Best in Show – the Pekingese.

The tiny 11 pound, 4 year old pekingese is top dog for 2012.

The Pekingese defeated a retriever, dachshund, German shepherd, Irish setter, doberman, terrier and dalmatian for WKC top honors.

are Pink Slime Burgers Allowed by the USDA?

A famous fast food chain says it has quit using USDA approved pink slime food trimmings, also known as ammonium hydroxide, as part of their meat product “burger”.

Jamie Oliver and his Food Revolution claim that the majority of American ground beef contains leftover cow parts “pink slime” with the e.coli and salmonella treated with ammonia.

The USDA allows this ammonia treated meat to enter the marketplace and with no labeling requirement on the packaging to inform the consumer, because ammonium hydroxide is considered part of the production procedure.

Mechanically separated, ammonia treated meat can be found in most grocery stores, fast food restaurants and school cafeterias. You have been warned.

 

Va Tech beats itself then robbed by official in Sugar Bowl

Va Tech was twice as good as Michigan in last nights Sugar Bowl. Twice as many first downs, twice as many total yards, twice as many touchdown chances.

And of course twice as many missed opportunities, field goals and mistakes, none more crucial than an inexplicable fake punt late in the 4th quarter.

Yet after all the comedy of errors in regulation time, just when victory was in reach with a certain touchdown catch and reception in overtime, the replay official unbelievably robbed Virginia Tech of the 2012 Sugar Bowl.

There was no doubt WR Danny Coale maintained control 100% throughout the entire winning catch in the endzone.

Sometimes the best team doesn’t win on the scoreboard. Congrats Michigan Wolverines, you played the system.

The horror for the fans of Virginia Tech University. The horror for the bettors in Las Vegas on the wrong side of a half point. The horror.

 

 

Military Dog PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD is well-documented among American servicemen returning from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Veterinarians say animals and especially bomb sniffing military dogs who encounter noisy explosions in a war zone, may experience PTSD as well.

Fear mechanisms appear similar in humans and man’s best friend and both with PTSD may not sleep well.

Highly trained German Shepherds and other military dogs are returning home from combat duty fearful of everyone and preferring to hide than encounter people, withdrawing from society.

Only with time, loving care and learning anew that in civilian life everyone is not trying to get them do the retired military dogs have a chance of acting more social again.

The military defines PTSD as a condition that develops after a life-threatening trauma.

Victims re-experience the trauma in nightmares or vivid memories and they avoid situations or feelings that remind them of the event.
