In a stunning announcement, NASA Administrator Charles Bolden says Obama’s foremost mission for NASA is to find a way to reach out to the Muslim World and to help them to Feel Good about their historic contribution to science, math and engineering.[01:24 to 01:39] in video

This is NASA  – the National Aeronautics and Space Administration – we are talking about, for heavens sake. One would think it would be front-page headline news for AP, Reuters, New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today etc. NO.

And forget about that – under Obama, Space has been removed from NASA’s program and the foremost mission [job 1] altered to Obama’s own vision of helping the Muslim world feel good – being covered on the mainstream televised news broadcasts of ABC, CBS, or NBC.

According to the current NASA administrator, it’s expensive to fly to space and we’re going to rely more on our international partners.

So what twisted logic is it – to not focus the space program on research and development, Earth’s collapsing thermosphere, asteroids and near-Earth objects or solar flares – than instead having Job 1, helping Muslims feel good, I ask?

And is it just me or does the NASA administrator have no eyebrows and bumps instead? If Hollywood needs a space alien for an upcoming movie, this guy would be a perfect fit for the role as an actor.

Incredibly, at 08:15 to 08:32 Charles Bolden went on to say ” We have become NASA focused. We have become NASA centric. And we do things for NASA’s interest. I don’t share that feeling … that’s not good if people think that we fly missions to support NASA and the things we do. ”

Jupiter Venus Moon Converge in Optical Illusion

Conjunctions between Venus and Jupiter come in pairs.  The first takes place in the morning sky , followed about 10 months later by another in the evening sky.  Two and a half years later Venus and Jupiter are again in conjunction, again in the morning sky.  On Feb 1 of this year , Venus and Jupiter paired off in the morning sky.  After Dec 1 , Venus and Jupiter will next get together again in the morning sky on May 11 , 2011.  And ten months later – in March 2012 they will again pair off in the evening sky.

Space Shuttle Endeavour Rockets Toward Intl Space Station

7:55 PM EST from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Florida under a Bright Full Moon , the Space Shuttle Endeavour Blasted Off , Lighting Up the Night-Time Sky as it Rockets toward its Rendevous with the International Space Station on Sunday Afternoon. 

Endeavour Commander Chris Ferguson , Shuttle Pilot Eric Boe and Five Mission Specialists will be aboard the Intl Space Station to celebrate its 10th anniversary on November 20th.

NASA’s new Water Recovery System will make it possible for six crew members to Live Aboard the International Space Station. Some of the other “Home Improvement” Cargo are a $19 Million toilet , kitchen , two more bedrooms and the first-ever Space Cooler that will allow Astronauts to have Cold Drinks.

Four Maintenance Space Walks are also Planned. The 27th shuttle mission to the space station is due to Land back on Earth November 29th or 30th.

First Photo of Extrasolar ExoPlanet

Astronomers have their first photos of Exoplanets , alien planets outside our solar system , courtesy of the Hubble Space Telescope. An extrasolar planet [exoplanet] is a Planet beyond our Solar System , orbiting around another Star. The frequency of detection is increasing – with 61 planets detected in 2007.

The pictures show 4 likely planets that appear as specks of white – all are trillions of miles away — three of them orbiting the same star. None of these four giant gaseous planets are habitable or remotely like Earth.

In the past 16 years , Scientists have Discovered more than 300 planets outside our Solar System ,  by measuring changes in Gravity , Speed or Light around stars. The actual Photos are an important step Forward – Now we have a Picture.

The planet discovered by Hubble is about the size of Neptune and three times bigger than Jupiter. It circles the Star Fomalhaut which is 100 million times brighter than its Planet. The planet is only about 200 million years old and it’s Temperature is around 260 degrees.

Three other planets , 7 to 10 times larger than Jupiter were Confirmed , circling a star named HR 8799 in the Pegasus constellation. The star itself is about 767 trillion miles away.

A piece of space station trash the size of a refrigerator is poised to plunge through the Earth’s atmosphere late Sunday, more than a year after an astronaut tossed it overboard.

NASA is tracking the object – a 1,400-pound (635-kg) coolant tank thrown from the International Space Station – to make sure it does not Endanger Earthlings on Earth. The tank is expected to re-enter Earth’s Atmosphere Sunday afternoon or evening though there is a Low likelihood that anybody will be impacted by it.

NASA expects some pieces of the tank to survive the searing hot temperatures of re-entry, ranging in size from about 1.4 ounces (40 grams) to nearly 40 pounds (17.5 kg). If they reach all the way to land, the largest pieces could slam into the Earth’s surface at about 100 mph (161 kph). A splashdown at sea is more likely as the planet is two-thirds ocean.
