The Miami Heat are the 2012 NBA Champions of basketball.

LeBron James won his first NBA title and Finals MVP.

Hebrew National Lawsuit Oy Vey

Hebrew National lawsuit, oy vey, was reported by American Jewish World. The case is Wallace et al v. ConAgra Foods Inc, U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota, No. 12-01354

The lawsuit alleges that [A] meat processing services provided to ConAgra by AER, fell short of the standards necessary to label Hebrew National products as kosher.

[B] ConAgra misled consumers and was able to charge premium prices. Oy vey.

Plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages and an injunction against further mislabeling. The lawsuit seeks class-action status for US purchasers of Hebrew National products over the last 4 years, and alleges negligence and violation of state consumer fraud laws.

ConAgra denies any wrong-doing and stands behind the quality of its Hebrew National hot dogs and their kosher status.

ConAgra marks Hebrew National packages with a Triangle K symbol and represents that the contents are kosher as defined by the most stringent Jews who follow Orthodox Jewish law.

But something not kosher is going on here. Too much of what goes on in the world isn’t kosher. Class action lawsuit = millions for attorneys and a $1.00 off coupon for plaintiffs. Oy!

If we really knew what was in the meats and snacks that we purchase at the supermarket and order at fast-food restaurants, we probably would not want to buy it, let alone eat it.

In other news: Costco sales of Kosher Hot Dogs go limp. Oy, indeed. And the oy’s have it.

LA Kings of NHL Hockey 2012

L.A. the new Kings of NHL Hockey won the 2012 Stanley Cup tonight completing a dream playoff run and season for Conn Smythe MVP Trophy winning goalie Johnathan Quick.

The LA Kings need to lock up a long term contract with Quick who has one year remaining. Check out his performance:

1. 1.49 GA in the playoffs – NHL Record
2. 10 consecutive playoff road games – NHL Record
3. 16-4 Playoffs won-loss – Tied NHL Record
4. Won first three games of all four playoff series.
5. Most playoff shutouts one season in NHL history.

For the first time, after waiting 45 years, the LA Kings have won the Stanley Cup. They’re young enough, big and fast enough to do it again.

Los Angeles Kings became the first NHL eighth seed to win a title and they did so by winning a record 10 straight road games.

The city of LA has another champion sports franchise. The NHL has the Figueroa Street Bullies.

Congratulations to the whole LA Kings team and the professionalism of coach Darryl Sutter. Hermosa Beach, California will be rocking tonight.

HM The Queen Diamond Jubilee celebrating 60 years on the Throne of the British Monarchy will be celebrated on the holiday weekend of June 2 – 5, 2012.

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee message:

NYC Big Soda Ban

NYC big soda ban proposed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Health Dept. wants to decide what and how much New Yorkers drink.

If Bloomberg has his way, sugary drinks at restaurants, street carts and theaters will be outlawed. The sale of any sweetened drink larger than 16 fluid ounces would be prohibited at deli’s, fast-food chains and sports arenas.

Beverages sold in grocery or convenience stores would be exempt and the measure would not apply to alcohol, diet sodas, fruit juices and milkshakes.

Diet sodas and drinks usually contain aspartame, a substance far more dangerous than sugar and even high fructose corn syrup.

Studies prove aspartame in diet sodas cause severe neurologic, gastrointestinal and psychological problems.

But you don’t see Bloomberg ordering his Health Department to ban aspartame’s use, now do you?

Ronald Poppo, a 65 year old Miami homeless man, has been identified as the victim in the horrific face-chewing attack.

Miami Police Detective William Moreno said Eugene continued to chew on Poppo’s face even after he was shot. It took five more rounds to disable and kill Rudy Eugene.
