North Korea’s Supreme Commander of the People’s Army, Kim Jong-il has died at the age of 69. North Korean State media announced the Great Comrade passed away from a heart attack.
Pyong-yang’s long standing enemy, South Korea immediately put its armed forces on high alert and the government in Seoul declared the situation an emergency.
Kim Jong-il’s youngest son, Kim Jong-un, has been named his successor over the most reclusive country on Planet Earth including it’s 1 million active duty troops and nuclear capability.
Born under a double rainbow, Dear Leader’s body is now lying in state in a mausoleum in the capital, before a funeral service on December 28th.
Until then, a period of mourning has been declared in the country and the subjects were instructed to weep uncontrollably for media cameras.
Tensions are rising on the Korean peninsula for North and South Korea who are still officially at war.
North Korea is threatening to use its ” nuclear deterrent ” in response to joint naval exercises between 8,000 US and South Korea troops, 190 aircraft and 20 ships including the nuclear-powered supercarrier USS George Washington.
The four day ” Invincible Spirit ” War Games began on Sunday in Sea of Japan waters, near nuclear-armed North Korea, and will include anti-submarine maneuvers.
US State Department spokesman PJ Crowley tried to calm tensions, saying the planned exercises were defensive in nature. The maneuvers are not intended to provoke a response but are to send Pyongyang a message that further aggression in the region will not be tolerated.
The official Korean Central News Agency reported on Monday that Kim Yong Chun, North Korea’s defense chief was quoted in Pyongyang as saying ” Should the US imperialists and South Korea puppet forces finally ignite a new war of aggression, North Korea will mobilize the tremendous military potential including its nuclear deterrence for self-defense and thus wipe out the aggressors.”
North Korean state television reported: The Army and people of the DPRK will start a retaliatory sacred war of their own style based on a nuclear deterrent to the US imperialists and the South Korea puppet forces who are deliberately pushing the situation to the brink of war.
Laura Ling and Euna Lee , the two journalists who snuck in illegally to North Korea , engaged in unspecified hostile acts and were sentenced to 12 years at hard labor in a North Korean Prison Camp
received a Special Pardon from Kim Jong Il after former US President Bill Clinton visited North Korea to negotiate a release.
North Korean State Media said that after Bill Clinton Apologized for the two female journalists –
North Korea pardoned Ling & Lee in a spirit of humanitarian and peaceloving policy.
North Korea threatens to ” wipe out ” the United States. A US Pentagon spokesman responded ” I don’t know how I even respond to such silliness – I don’t know – wipe the United States Off the Map for what? and with what? ” And US President Obama stated ” Let’s be Clear – This Administration and Our Military are Prepared for any Contingencies. ”
