Iranian security forces using tear gas and clubs overwhelmed a group of rock-throwing protesters in Tehran. Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that the June 12 Iran election of hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would not be reversed and vowed that the nation’s rulers would never yield to demands from the streets.

Acts of dissent such as strikes , blocking traffic with sit-ins and the nightly cries of protest from rooftops and balconies continue though the mass street demonstrations are declining – fearing the likelihood of more violence or deaths , like the Martyr Neda.
Iranian State TV reported that Ahmadinejad would be officially sworn in as President between July 26 and August 19 2009. But the Revolutionary Guard may well emerge as the big winner.
